So You're Dead...Now What?

The afterlife is cloaked in mystery.  What happens moments after we die?  What is Heaven really like?  What about Hell?  And does what we do in this world really matter in the next?  Join us as we uncover the life-altering answers to these questions.

Burden of Proof

We live in a culture that urges us to accept all religions as valid approaches to God. We are surrounded by intellectuals who urge us to abandon the notion of moral or theological absolutes. Our universities are filled with skeptics and cynics who delight in dismantling the Sunday school faith of our young people. And yet in spite of all that, millions of people worldwide cling to the notion that 2000 years ago a man came from God, spoke on behalf of God and then died for the sins of the world. How can that be? Are we simply deceiving ourselves? Do we need propping up that bad? Have we checked our brains at the door? Why would so many continue to believe in such narrow, politically incorrect, divisive ideas? This three-part series examines the evidence that has led so many to accept the Bible as a credible record of actual events. Listen and decide for yourself.

He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

How do we remain hopeful in a world that seems hopelessly broken?  How do we continue to trust a God that seems conspicuously absent?  How do we find peace in a world that is spinning out of control?  Uncertainty is nothing new, and the uncertainty we face today is no different from the uncertainty faced by the men and women of the Bible.  And, like them, we are left to question God's faithfulness, his presence, His concern.  But in the end, they, like us, were reminded that...He's Got the Whole World in His Hands. He really does.

Simple

The Christian life is about a relationship with Jesus Christ.  At the heart of that relationship is an invitation that Jesus extends to people from all experiences of life...Follow me.  Those who follow Jesus begin to discover God's character trough Jesus Christ.  In that discovery we find ourselves drawn to take a simple second step...Believe.  Jesus invites us to follow Him until we begin to believe that He is who He says He is.  This belief that God loves us and has the best in store for us ten becomes the reason we...Obey.

Is God?

The question on most people's mind is not, "Is God?"  The majority of us have already concluded that "God Is."  Our question is, "How does He feel about some of the 'hot-button' issues?" Truth be told, God does not shy away from even the most controversial of topics - from life-style choices to war to abortion to political correctness.

One Shining Moment

It is absolutely amazing that the simple, unassuming birth of a peasant baby boy two thousand years ago in the Middle East still causes traffic jams every year all over the world.  The night Jesus Christ was born seemed like every other night – nothing seemed any different. But in this one, seemingly ordinary moment, the world was about to be radically changed and would never be the same again.  Christmas is so much more than a source of emotional and financial stress. It is the One Shining Moment that changes everything!

Life's Healing Choices

Promising freedom from life's hurts, hang-ups and habits, this life-changing message series promises that true happiness can be ours, if we choose it; for happiness truly is a choice.  This promise of happiness is based on eight statements from the truest of all books - God's Word - and from the most revered teacher of all time - Jesus Christ.

Are You Kidding Me?

Jesus made some pretty radical statements when he walked this earth; statements that could lead us to wonder if He was JK (just kidding).  Something deep within us tells us He wasn't joking, but how are we to respond to such "off the chain" declarations?  Join us for this four part message series and discover how your life can be different when you take Jesus seriously.

Growing Faith

Your faith in God matters to God.  In fact, God is most honored through your living, active, death-defying, out-of-the-box faith.  That being the case, He is committed to growing your faith.  Imagine how different your outlook on life would be if you had absolute confidence that God was with you?  Imagine how differently you would respond to difficulties, temptations, and even good things if you knew with certainty that God was in all of it and was planning to leverage it for good.  In other words, imagine what it would be like to have perfect faith.  In "Growing Faith", Jody Flowers builds a biblical case for - you guessed it - the things God uses to grow your faith BIG.

The Vow

Falling in love is easy.  But staying there?  That's something else entirely.  Is it possible for two people to fall in love and stay there?  Please join us for this 3-part series.

One Month To Live

What if you learned you only had just one month to live?  How would your life be different?  Our days are numbered, and each one that passes is gone forever.  Instead of spending time on things that don't really matter, this five part series will show you how to be who God created you to be - passionate, fully alive, living with no regrets.

Where's My Bailout

With all the uncertainty in the air, most of us are saying "Where's MY bailout?" How do we find peace when everything is chaos? How do you hold a family together when everything seems to be crashing overnight?  There are answers and there is hope. Join us on Easter Sunday at Chapin United Methodist Church as Pastor Jody talks about God's bailout plan for our lives.

Fanatic

Ask yourself the question, “What do I worship?” You might be surprised by the answer. Do you spend the same time and energy toward God as you do with sporting events, concerts or even your Wii? Are you as fanatical about showing your praise for God as you are about showing off your house? If not, then maybe you’re worshiping the wrong things.

Worry Knot

Worry.  It's universal.  It is as much a part of life as breathing. Yet Jesus said, "Don't!...Don't worry."  Easier said than done!  In this 2009 series of messages, Worry Knot, Pastor Jody will help us explore what Jesus had to say about this important topic.  You will discover where worry comes from, why it is so difficult to overcome, and what you can do to conquer worry in your life.

My Bod and God

When it comes to our bodies, we generally veer toward one of two extremes. We either worship it or neglect it. If you are not sure whether you are a body-worshipper or a body-neglector, then maybe this will help. If a fat gram is something you avoid, you may be a worshipper. If a fat gram brings to mind your overweight grandmother, you may be a neglector. If you avoid caffeine, you may be a worshipper. If you simply avoid the taste associated with caffeine by putting enough sugar and milk in your coffee to make it taste like a doughnut, you might be a neglector. It may come as a surprise, but the Bible addresses both body-worshippers and body-neglectors. As we discover in this seven-part series, God has something to say about our eyes, ears, hands, feet, and yes, even our waistlines!

Life Rules

The giving of the Ten Commandments is one of the most well known events in Christianity.  Yet, throughout history, many Christians have mistakenly viewed the Commandments as conditions for God’s acceptance, or as some type of admissions test to get into heaven.  But why did God really give these laws, and how can we apply them as our life rules today?

Overflow

“Where did that come from?” You know that horrible, sinking feeling you have when something comes out of your mouth that you didn't expect - that is just so unlike you. Did you know those words are a reflection of a bigger problem lurking beneath the surface? "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks," (Mat. 12:33). The scary truth is that the words you "accidentally" speak and the actions you later regret are in keeping with what's hiding in your heart.
